conversion goals

clicks are vanity.
conversions are truth

A thousand clicks that never convert are worth less than fifty that do. c3.lt attaches a conversion goal to any short link — so every channel you share on reports the number that actually matters.

▮ how it works

four steps to truth.

01
define a goal

Name the outcome you care about — signup, purchase, booking — in the dashboard.

02
drop the pixel

Paste a 1×1 tracking pixel on your thank-you or success page. One tag, any site you control.

03
share the link

Every click through your c3.lt link is remembered (best-effort cookie attribution).

04
read conversion rate per link

When a clicker lands on the goal page, the conversion is attributed to the link that sent them. Compare channels by what converted, not what got clicked.

▮ combine

goals play well with everything.

business

goals + a/b testing

Split one link across two destinations and read conversion rate per variant — optimize for signups, not clicks.

pro

goals + retargeting pixels

Fire Meta/Google/TikTok pixels on the same link, so non-converters become a retargeting audience.

goals + utm

UTM parameters pass through untouched, so your web analytics and c3.lt agree about where traffic came from.

goals + qr codes

A printed QR becomes a measurable funnel: scans → clicks → conversions, per code.

▮ faq

questions.

How does conversion tracking on a short link work?

You define a goal in c3.lt, then place a 1×1 pixel on your success page. When someone clicks your short link and later reaches that page, the conversion is attributed to the link (best-effort cookie attribution) — so you see conversion rate per link, per channel.

Do I need access to the destination site?

For conversion goals, yes — the pixel goes on your success page. If you cannot edit the destination, you can still use retargeting pixels, which fire on the redirect itself and need nothing on the destination.

Can I compare which channel converts best?

Yes. Create one short link per channel (Reddit, newsletter, X, QR) pointing at the same destination, and read conversion rate per link. Clicks tell you reach; conversions tell you what to double down on.

How accurate is the attribution?

Attribution is cookie-based and best-effort: it correctly captures the common case (click, then convert in the same browser) and undercounts cross-device or cookie-blocked journeys. Treat it as a strong directional signal, like most last-click analytics.
