a/b testing · one link

one short link.
two destinations.

Stop guessing which landing page wins. Split a single c3.lt link across multiple destinations, weighted-random per click, and read the result per variant — then ship the winner without ever changing the URL you shared.

▮ how it works

test in four steps.

01
add two or more destinations

Point one short link at variant A and variant B (and C, D…). Give each a weight, or split evenly.

02
we split traffic per click

Each visitor is assigned weighted-randomly at the edge and 302-redirected. No flicker, no client-side JS, no slow round-trip.

03
read the split in analytics

Every variant shows its click count and share of traffic in the dashboard. Exported click rows carry their variant, and conversion goals attribute each conversion back to the variant that served it.

04
ship the winner

Repoint the link to the variant that won. The URL you shared everywhere never changes — only where it lands.

▮ faq

questions.

How does A/B testing on a link work?

You attach more than one destination to a single c3.lt short link and set a weight for each. Every click is assigned weighted-randomly and redirected at the edge, so you can test two landing pages, offers, or signup flows behind one URL.

Will visitors notice they are in a test?

No. The split happens during the 302 redirect before the page loads — there is no client-side script, no content flash, and no extra latency beyond the sub-50ms edge redirect.

Can I see which variant converts, not just which gets clicks?

Yes. Add a conversion goal: drop a 1×1 pixel on your post-action page, and each attributed conversion records which variant served the original click — so you optimize for signups or sales rather than raw clicks.

How many variants can I test?

Test multiple destinations on one link with custom weights. Repoint to the winner anytime — the shared URL stays identical, so links already in the wild keep working.
